about
I was driving from Cape Town to the Cederberg on a hot day, at the beginning of a long summer. As I drove, I observed the dry, hot dust bowl I found myself in, I was overwhelmed by the agricultural wasteland we have created. My heart broke for the cattle and sheep that stood in the heat without any shade. They stood in groups, tails to the sun, using each other as shade.
My heart broke for the soil that was being stripped a little more, year after GMO year.
As I drove, I started crying and felt the beginnings of this song rise up. I decided I would not lament her fate, but rather, I wanted to offer her a song to help her heal, a song that fed positive vibration to her, rather than expressing the pain. I would sing for her healing (Cura) and offer gratitude to the natural world, to Pachamama (Mother Earth).
So, this song is a song of healing that we offer to Pachamama. This is a song we sing in the face of the great hardships she suffers at the moment. I encourage you to sing this song with the intention to heal her. Let's join our hearts through the prayers that we offer to all the plants and animals, mountains and waters of our beautiful planet.
lyrics
For your beauty and your bounty we thank you, Mama
For your crystal clear water, we thank you, Mama
For your endless forgiveness, we thank you, Mama
